The guaranteed purchase of electricity rates from renewable and clean power plants are announced.
According to the Ministry of Energy the development of 5000 MW installed capacity of renewable power plants, is set as a main goal in the next 5 years.
This goal will be achieved mainly by interaction of private sector through guaranteed electricity purchase.
As a result the guaranteed purchase of electricity rates from renewable and clean power plants are announced by the respected Minister of Energy on 9th May 2016. According to the public relations of Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA), the announced rates are slightly increased comparing to the last year in order to promote the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources and enhancement of private sector participation.
According to this directive, the tariffs will be proportionately increased up to 30% for power plants constructed using local equipment, technologies know-how, design and manufacturing. It is worth knowing that Ministry of Energy follows the policy of gradual decreasing of guaranteed electricity purchase rates from renewable and clean power plants proportionally by increasing the capacity of these power plants with consideration of financial sources. However, the decreased rates will be applied in new contracts only.
The report adds that according to this directive the responsibility of issuing construction permits for applicants, signing power purchase agreements, and paying commitments regarding the renewable and clean energy generation will be burden by Renewable Energy Organization of Iran.
