Atai & Associates attended arbitration seminar organized by the Tehran Regional Arbitration Center (TRAC) and Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SCC) on 9th November 2016 in Tehran.

Dr. Oveis Rezvanian, Director of TRAC made the opening speech of the conference by welcoming the Swedish and Iranian lawyers and introducing the activities of TRAC as an independent international organization operating under the auspices of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO).

Other speakers at the conference were Annette Magnusson, Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of the SCC, Fredrik Anderson, Co-chair of the Mannheimer Swartling’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group, Maria Nisell, Senior Counsel at Magnusson Law Firm, Mojtaba Kazazi, Member of the Arbitration Board at TRAC and Dr. Laya Joneydi, Associate Professor at Tehran University.

Adineh Abghari, Senior Legal Counsel at TRAC and Ulf Franke, Former Secretary General of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI) acted as moderators for the different panels of speakers.

The panelists discussed topical issues surrounding international arbitration including emergency and fast-track arbitration from the perspective of Swedish and Iranian law as well as other important topics such as appointment of arbitrators.

The Swedish experts provided an overview of the regime governing emergency arbitration and shared their experience of cases under the arbitration rules of the Arbitration Institute of SCC.

The Iranian lawyers outlined the provisions of the Law of International Commercial Arbitration (LICA) regarding fast-track arbitration and recommended revision of laws to facilitate emergency arbitration and promoting Iran as a seat of arbitration.

The seminar ended with Q&A time in which Iranian lawyers addressed their questions to the panel.
